Computer Room Consultant Trainee (STDT 3 - $16.25/hr)

Duties:

  • Provide basic computer consulting to faculty, students and staff
  • Assist faculty and other instructors in setting up software and/or hardware for classes
  • Assist faculty and other instructors during class times
  • Interact and form relationships with faculty and instructors
  • Provide consulting on Mac and PC platforms operating on macOS and Windows respectively
  • Assist users with IET computer classroom software and networking
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of hardware and software problems in IET computer classrooms
  • Restore both Mac and PC computers to standard IET classroom settings
  • Monitor computer room activity
  • Perform basic printer troubleshooting
  • Perform password resets for clients as needed
  • Perform walkthroughs of the IET computer rooms for nonfunctional equipment and cleanliness
  • Maintain the cleanliness of IET computer classrooms and its equipment
  • Ensure the security of the IET computer classroom equipment and facility
  • Communicate problems about the facility and/or faculty concerns to managers and/or supervisors
  • Provide professional and courteous service to all IET computer classroom users
  • Ensure compliance of all users with UC Davis policies on acceptable computer use
  • Perform other duties as required for the operation of the IET computer classrooms

Requirements:

  • Must follow all Computer Room Consultant Expectations
  • Must have good customer service skills
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have basic knowledge of software installed in IET computer classrooms
  • Must follow and enforce CLM policies and procedures
  • May be required to work when not in academic related commitments (i.e., class, labs, discussions, clubs)
  • Must maintain UC Davis student status (enrolled, PELP, etc.)
  • Must work between 12.00 and 19.5 hours a week
  • Cannot work more than 19.5 hours a week for all University jobs combined
  • Comply with UC Davis Policies and Procedures on Acceptable Computer Use
  • Must attend yearly Boot Camp Training and other mandatory events
